One crew started painting a three bedroom apartment. Julie, Barb, Katie and Chris prepped it and painted most of it in one day. Of course, we were covered in paint, but it was a great day with little kids peeking in the door at us to see what we were doing. Lots of smiles and giggles with the kids made the day and hard work fun.
The painters had to sweep the dust, cobwebs and dirt from the textured concrete walls before we can even begin tapping and painting (Hi Ben & Laura).Tommy Todd is our coordinator of projects and checks in with each team to see what they need to keep there work flowing - what an awesome servant of God he is! His wife made us the best chocolate cake ever to welcome us - she is so sweet!
Another team has to move this whole dirt pile (and it's a lot bigger from a side view)! First order of business was to pick up blocks, trash, etc. then did grading without a grading - what fun! The little boys really wanted to ride on the backhoe, but were not allowed. They had fun watching Larry, Lori, and Lori work in the warm sun though!
Dave and Scott spent the day cutting metal to prepare to make a bike rack. They will be welding them together in the days to come. They made a lot of progress on day!!!
The paint crew finally began painting after a morning of cleaning!
The bike rack crew is measuring twice to cut once.
Larry spent the day installing wiring throughout the Director's new home.
Willie, Trent, Dan, and Bobby made the prototype for the cabinets in the girls' dorm. They had success and Willie and Bobby spent the rest of the day cutting the wood for the rest of the 12 cabinets needed.
We had baked oatmeal for breakfast that was outstanding. Lunch was chicken and mashed potatoes with cucumbers and jello. Dinner was nachos!!! Doesn't sound very "Guatemalan" does it? But it was delicioso!!! The coffee here is fantastic too!
